Kids with cases of undetected farsightedness will surely do a poor performance in school, particularly when it comes to literacy tests, thus it will lead to the researchers in questioning if they provide eyeglasses for the kids can help in the prevention of reading & education deficits. Slight farsightedness or better known as hyperopia will not have a dramatic effect on the eyesight & a lot of the kids will not even know the difference, so they will not complain according to researchers. There is no big amount of research on the results of hyperopia in terms of early reading and learning. More so, in relation to the absence of agreement amid doctors on how they will take care, leaving the researchers without any recommendations to the parents.
Amidst 4-14 of the preschoolers suffer from hyperopia. The concern for the said kids are becoming high due to the visual lessons that includes the phonics, reading, vocabulary and others that are important for them to continue with their education in kinder and in grade 1. The dissimilarities are meaningful since formal learning for a lot of kids starts in their preschool years. This is according to Dr. Kulp; she is the professor of Optometry in a university in Ohio. Moreover, some of the other researchers have explored on the long term effect of the early shortage in literacy and has shown them to be linked with some other issues in learning to read and to write. It will make early detection of the said issues essential.

All of the kids were provided by the tests for preschool literacy that includes sub-tests of written knowledge, phonological awareness and even definitional vocabulary. None of the kids wore eyeglasses. The researchers have reported the kids during the study with hyperopia did not do better on the tests than those without and the lowest scores were in kids with worse near vision of those who are farsighted.
By seeing the difference in terms of the performance and by considering the past research conducted that issues regarding the eyesight can lead to problems in educational performance if not properly diagnosed and treated. This is according to the researchers who conducted further investigations about how the eyeglasses can help in improving the grades and class performance of the kids in school. The study can help in answering the queries who among the kids’ special attention and who must be given eyeglasses to improve their class standing
